In Nazi concentration camps, gay men (lesbian women were marked with an inverted black triangle) were forced to sew an inverted pink triangle onto their uniforms to clearly identify and set them apart from others. They were treated with even greater cruelty than the rest of the prisoners. To this day, the exact number of LBTIQ+ victims remains unknown.

Later, in the 1970s, activist adopted the triangle as a symbol of their fight against discrimination and homophobia. In 1987, Act Up was established in New York as a platform to raise visibility for AIDS victims, challenging hegemonic power and social exclusion. Their motto was Silence=Death, a short version of "silence around the disease equals the spread of death." They adopted the triangle, subverting and reinterpreting it by simply flipping it over, with the point facing upward as their "mark." I aesthetically enshrined this emblem by materializing it as a neon light in a neo-minimalist style, radiating pink, an aesthetic artifact loaded with symbolic meaning for the LGBTIQ+ community, serving as a constant symbol of their ongoing struggle for rights that are always under threat.

The triangle is open to various symbolic interpretations: it represents the panoptic eye, the eye of Ra, the all-seeing eye, power and divinity, order and control. But it also represents the divergent body, dissident desire, the stigma of hate, and the symbol of struggle. The triangle is an idea manifested in light, a geometric drawing, the geometry turned into pain, fear, and anger. The triangle is a concentrated line within the polysemy of a symbol—it is ambiguous, multimedia, hyper-referential, emotional, a builder of identity, and a sign of difference.

un triangulo rosa invertido para dejar clara su condicion y diferenciarlos del resto, siendo tratados con mayor crueldad [si cabe] que el resto de prisioneros. A dfa de hoy se

desconoce el numero exacto de vfctimas homosexuales tanto masculinas como femeninas.

Posteriormente en los 70, colectivos activistas lo adoptan como sfmbolo de lucha en

contra de la discriminacion y la homofobia. En 1987 nace en Nueva York la agrupacion Act

Up, como un altavoz para visibilizar a las víctimas del SIDA, luchando contra el poder

hegemonico y la no exclusion social. No en vano su lema era Silence= Death

[Silencio=Muerte], version corta de "el silencio en torno a a la enfermedad equivale a la

propagacion de la muerte", adoptando el triangulo, subvirtiendolo y resignificandolo, con el simple gesto de darle la vuelta, con la punta hacia arriba como su "marca". Senra estetiza ese emblema, materializandolo en un neon neominimalista que arroja luz rosa, un

artefacto estetico, algo formalmente frívolo y banal pero cargado de significados

simbólicos para la comunidad LCTBIQ+ e insignia de lucha constante par esos derechos que

van llegando pero nunca del todo.

El triangulo esta abierto a muchas interpretaciones simbólicas: es el ojo panóptico, el ojo

de Ra, el ojo que todo lo ve, el poder y la divinidad, el órden y el control. Pero tambien es el cuerpo divergente, el deseo disidente, el estigma del odio, el símbolo de la lucha. El triangulo es una idea hecha luz, es un dibujo geométrico, es la geometría hecha dolor,

miedo y rabia. El triangulo es la línea concentrada en la polisemia de un símbolo, es

ambiguo, multimedia, hiperreferencial, emotivo, constructor de identidad y señal de

diferencia.
